Your first interior detail: what do you actually need?
Start with the job in front of you. For routine dirt on compatible interior trim, you may only need an interior cleaner, clean microfiber towels and a suitable detailing brush. Add a fabric cleaner when carpet or cloth upholstery needs treatment; do not assume one cleaner belongs on every material.
- Clean first. Remove loose debris, then follow your vehicle's care instructions and the product label. Test a small hidden area before cleaning. Screens, suede, Alcantara and other specialist finishes need their own compatibility checks.
- Keep tools separated. Use clean towels for interior surfaces and separate towels for dirty floor areas. A brush helps reach seams and textured trim, but use gentle pressure and a tool suited to the surface.
- Protect only where appropriate. Dressing and leather treatment are separate steps, not substitutes for cleaning. Keep dressings off pedals, steering wheels and other controls where grip matters.
- Know when cleaning is not the fix. A cleaner cannot repair worn coating, cracks or damaged leather. Stop if a hidden-area test changes the finish.
